Please take a moment to read the following information:


You drive an Opel with a modern diesel engine that meets the Euro 6 emissions standard.


With this letter we would like to inform you about a recall campaign to improve the emission control system of your vehicle. Opel has developed improved engine control software in order to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides in practical driving.


The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) released the new engine control software as a voluntary software update at the beginning of 2021, thereby certifying that the improvement measure developed by Opel was in accordance with regulations. At the beginning of December 2021, the KBA then ordered that the software update must be carried out. Opel filed an objection to this, since Opel believes that the vehicles do not contain any illegal functions.


Irrespective of this, the order of the KBA can be implemented immediately, which is why your vehicle must now be retrofitted with the software update.


The voluntary software update was carried out under the campaign number: E172109770 (21-R-054) 084. If you were already informed in 2021 with a letter under number E172109770 (21-R-054), this is the same software update.


What are we doing?


The upgrade with new software, which is carried out by your Opel Service Partner, takes less than an hour and is completely free of charge for you. After reprogramming, your vehicle will be just as efficient as before in terms of fuel economy, performance, durability and noise. As always, actual values will vary depending on driving conditions.


The software update will bring about an important change: The emission of nitrogen oxides will be reduced in real driving, depending on the individual driving profile.


What do you have to do?


Have the software update installed in your vehicle. Contact your Opel Service Partner immediately. You can find the contact details on our website http://www.opel.de in the "dealer search" search function. You can also easily arrange a service appointment online at http://www.myyOpel.de.


Please bring this letter with you to the appointment.


If you no longer own the vehicle, please let us know. All you have to do is scan the QR code or enter the access data manually at http://www.online-aenderung.de, alternatively you can use the enclosed "change notification".
